At Lanier Lions Cheer, your child will engage in practices where they'll acquire cheers, chants, and basic stunting skills. These skills will be showcased as the squads support Lanier Lion Football teams at Saturday games. Additionally, cheerleaders will learn a competition routine, encompassing dance, cheer, tumbling, stunts, and jumps throughout the season. They'll have the opportunity to perform this routine at the Annual End of Season Competition, Cheer Bowl, scheduled for November 3.

Practice Time Commitment

Required practices take place twice a week at Lanierland Park, each session lasting up to 2 hours. There's a possibility of adding a third practice in preparation for the Cheer Bowl, and specific practice schedules are yet to be determined.

Sideline Cheer/Football Game Schedule

The GFA Commissioner will annually create a schedule of regular-season games, which will be published and distributed no later than one week before the first game. All regular scheduled games will take place at locations determined by the Executive GFA Board.

Following the regular season, the Executive GFA Board will develop a playoff schedule. The playoff process will lead to two teams in each grade level competing in the annual "Lanier Bowl," representing the season championship for the Georgia Football Association.

Football games are mandatory! Football games take place on Saturdays and typically run for approximately 2+ hours, including warm-up time.

Year End Competition

Participation in the competition is completely voluntary.  If you choose not to participate, your weekly practice schedule may be amended by your coach.  A specific time and day will be designated for practicing the squad’s half time routine as well as preparing for the weekly game. Practices are mandatory for competition participants. You may have 2 excused absences due to sickness; however, your coach must be given a doctor’s excuse upon your return to practice.  You must notify your coach or team parent if you are unable to practice. Any unexcused absence from practice will result in not being able to participate in the competition. It is extremely important that you arrive to practice on time and be ready to participate.

Off Season Workouts

The Lanier Lions Football and Cheer Association is pleased to offer Off-Season Workouts, included in your registration! These sessions, focusing on conditioning, speed, and agility, are open to all grade levels and everyone interested. Workouts will be held up to 3 days a week for 2 hours, led by our dedicated volunteer coaches and Board members. Join us as we enhance skills and foster teamwork during the off-season. More details about schedule to come!
